  • Long days stuck at home have left many of us yearning for the luxuries we once took for granted, like getting your hair done at the salon. But with some proper tools and techniques, you can replicate your favorite salon look from the comfort of your own bathroom. Here's how to achieve perfect blow waves at home, rivaling anything from your hairstylist.

Start by picking the right tools. You'll need a good quality hair dryer with a concentrator nozzle for focusing the heated airflow. Models with ionic technology minimize frizz while the heat and airflow set your style. For blow waves, a radial vented brush is key to creating the curved shape. Choose a small to medium size barrel depending on tight or loose curls you prefer.

Next, prep your hair with the right products. Start by spraying on a heat protectant containing coconut oil or argan oil to strengthen and condition your strands while you blow dry. A foam or styling mousse distributes evenly to help hold the wave shape while drying. Focus the product on mid-lengths and ends, avoiding the roots for better volume.

Once your hair is towel-dried and styled with product, section it off in a diagonal parting starting at the crown. Work in medium sized subsection and clamp the hair around the brush, gently gliding it down the shaft to create a curl. Turn on the dryer and direct the nozzle downward, slowly moving the brush under the flow of air to dry the hair while keeping its waved shape.

Setting the style with a cool blast of air is key once each subsection is dry. Try pinning the larger sections in place as you move onto smaller ones . This will help your blow waves hold their shape until the hair is fully cooled.

Once all of your hair has been dried and curled, run your fingers through the waves to break them up and achieve a loose, tousled look. Spray the style with a firm hold hairspray to extend the longevity of your blowout. With the right tools, products and technique, you'll soon master the art of salon-worthy blow waves right at home. Practice makes perfect!
